When you contemplate the dark skies, you can hear the beating of angel wings.
The unique piece, Angel Of Erebus, is entirely handcrafted from double silk organza, hand-dyed to achieve an uneven depth of color reminiscent of obsidian. It is fully lined with silk, so the combination of weight and surface of these materials produces the sound of angel wings beating when worn and in motion. Every cut is made by hand to add further depth to the material. The straps flowing down the back also function as a necklace, which can be arranged in various ways around the neck. They feature hand-finished details in different types of silk and vintage Japanese 24K gold and silver threads, used to highlight the preciousness of the symbol of light in the darkness.
Japanese 24K gold threads, handmade in Kyoto, are created by applying ultra-thin gold foil to washi paper, then cutting it into strips and wrapping it around a core silk thread. This delicate process, demanding exceptional skill and extreme artisanal precision, has a centuries-old history.
The dress is refinished with safety pins—a signature of AtelierSeptem. Each pin is applied one by one and then permanently fastened to prevent any harm to the wearer or any damage to the fabric. This lengthy process, demanding precision and patience, symbolizes sewing wounds with iron wire and the strength to embrace the inevitable while fighting for what you believe in.
