Ivan Grundahl

Ivan Grundahl, one of the only Danish fashion houses, was founded in Copenhagen after fifteen years as a personal stylist.

Yet within this mess of a character he finds the difficult people compelling. Most of the garments are produced in grey, black, and white, giving authority to the clientele to build their own self. 

This self determination approach goes way beyond the styling. The designer targets a wide demographic of women from 20 to 70 years of age. For younger clients, this approach introduces “discipline in dressing” early on. Restrained palette and precise cuts shift attention from trend-driven consumption. For older clients, the garments let them embrace their age without disguise to attempt to simulate youth. The focus shifts to proportion, material, allowing the wearer to inhabit the garment with clarity.
