"Opposites Plisse" Silk Dress

BROWNGREY

A completely hand-pleated, no-waste dress, refinished with safety pins. The outer shell is indigo hand-dyed using the traditional Japanese technique called shibori. The inner shell is ecologically hand-dip-dyed. The concept behind this garment contrasts the rigidity of the outer layer with the extreme softness of the inner layer, reflecting the often disparate nature of appearance versus essence. Despite the strong contrast in textures, the dress achieves a very fluid movement, embodying balance. The garment seems to sculpt itself to the body. The unique piece is entirely stitched with safety pins—a signature of AtellierSeptem. Each pin is applied one by one and then permanently fastened to prevent any damage to the fabric or harm to the wearer. This lengthy process, demanding precision and patience, symbolizes sewing wounds with iron wire and the strength to embrace the inevitable while fighting for what you believe in.
